episode 3
this was a bit of a silly one but/and i enjoyed it.

the grenade thing and request for a nuke were the main story beats this time and are pointing towards an interesting twist: maybe the hivemind doesnβt just need carol alive - itβs more invested in trying to please her (even at risk to her life)? maybe itβs because her displeasure can kill millions in an instant but maybe something more?

interesting when zosia mentioned that it has a βbiological imperativeβ to absorb carol/everyone. itβs a little frustrating that carol wonβt just flat out ask the hivemind directly all of the things i want to but itβs also a charming part of carolβs antisocial character (see: comment in episode 2 from one of the other remaining individual people about how carolβs the only one who doesnβt understand the hivemind because she hasnβt asked it basic foundational questions). anyway itβs kind of fun to get the slow unraveling of the puzzle box or whatever too

the plot continues to thicken with helenβs status in regard to the hivemind - it really seems like they might have helenβs memories but it could be that it just collectively is able to kinda reference these memories through the eyes of all the other people present during them, like the cleaning company lady at their house or staff at hotels where they vacationed. it could be that the collective consciousness is just clumsily trying to soothe helenβs grief by bringing up these memories but you would think that the collective would also include a few therapists or psychologists or wise old women who would understand how better to handle a grieving person than uh. Bringing a literal hand grenade into their living room

oh yeah also shout out to sprouts lmao i live near a sprouts grocery store and between this and the lesbianism itβs really starting to feel like vince gilligan has been spying on me. vince if youβre reading this itβs ok to just say hi to me
