higurashi (reread)

tatarigoroshi (祟殺し編) START:

the first time i read higurashi, i basically switched over from the visual novel to the manga around this point in the story (after wataganashi-hen). i loved the manga and there are moments in the story i remember so vividly, but then a lot of the rest of my memory, i’m finding, is actually pretty hazy.

so like i remember this is “the satoko chapter” and a lot of the horror here is like, kind of the actual horror of child abuse. i think? see, that is the thing - i can’t really remember what happens in this episode besides the satoko and satoshi lore. i assume people get killed at some point in the present, here?

it’s fun to not fully know what’s around every corner, but also to have so much big-picture information/context that I lacked the first time I read the story. Very fun to read between the lines and try to solve the gaps in each episode.

i forgot his name but he’s the town doctor and/or their sports coach… at school? not fond of his whole deal but whatever this isn’t about him.
